the nitty gritty

  • Accommodation: The rooms at Gleneagles are just as stunning as the landscape around them, giving off that luxury 5-star hotel vibe. Each one is uniquely inspired by the mountains, meadows, rivers, and lakes of the Perthshire countryside. Every detail, from the fluffy cushions to the cozy slippers, is designed to make our 5-star rooms feel like a warm and inviting home away from home.

  • Getting there: By Car: Since Gleneagles doesn’t have a street address, you might not find it on most systems. If our standard postcode, PH3 1NF, doesn’t work, try using PH3 1SH, which will bring you right to the resort. By Train: Gleneagles has its own station less than 2 minutes from the hotel, and we offer complimentary transfers. Just let us know when you’re arriving, and we’ll be there to meet you. Gleneagles is on the main London to Inverness line, and you can travel directly from London Kings Cross in just over 5.5 hours. Enjoy wireless internet and a complimentary chauffeur transfer from the station to the hotel. By Plane: Both Edinburgh and Glasgow airports are about an hour’s drive away. We can also arrange for helicopter landings at the hotel. Check flight times and book to either Edinburgh or Glasgow. By Chauffeur: Our in-house chauffeurs are available day and night to drive guests to and from the hotel and other destinations during your stay. We can also pick you up from Glasgow or Edinburgh airports.

  • What to pack: Gleneagles is a place where there is a lot of outdoor pursuits, so for daytime smart casual is fine, however for dining I would be looking to dress up a bit, at least wear a shirt and jacket and shoes even if you miss out a tie, and if you must wear jeans really nice ones.

  • Restaurants: Step into a dining adventure at Gleneagles! At The Strathearn, indulge in Modern-Scottish fine dining with a touch of theatrical magic—perfect for a romantic evening while the kids are looked after. Over at The Dormy, soak in stunning views of the golf courses and Perthshire countryside while savoring grill classics, comfort food, and fresh tandoor dishes in a lively clubhouse setting. For culinary excellence, head to Andrew Fairlie’s, Scotland’s only 2 Michelin star restaurant, where every dish promises a memorable experience. At The Birnam, enjoy vibrant Italian-American grill dining with seared cuts and slow-cooked delights over an open fire pit. For whisky enthusiasts, The Inglenook at The Dormy offers a cozy retreat with its roaring fire, ideal for enjoying al fresco whisky and cigars. Rain or shine, The Garden Cafe welcomes with light bites, home-baked treats, and quality teas and coffee—a relaxed spot for the whole family. And don't miss Auchterarder Seventy, the go-to bar for craft beers, local gins, and tempting bar snacks—it’s a must-visit!

  • Spa: Welcome to Gleneagles' Resident Spa! They've created some amazing new spaces for you to kick back, unwind, and feel rejuvenated. It's all about embracing health, happiness, and enjoying life to the max. Trust their expert therapists to spoil you with signature treatments, natural remedies, and a healthy café experience that'll leave you feeling refreshed inside and out.

  • Signature Activities: At Gleneagles, excitement is around every corner. Whether you're into shooting or fishing, they've got you covered with clay shooting, trout fishing in their gardens, deer stalking on Perthshire Estates, or salmon fishing on the River Tay. Horse lovers can enjoy coaching at their expansive Scottish Equestrian School, nestled in breathtaking scenery. For those craving adventure, tackle the Highland trails with off-road driving, or explore Perthshire's landscapes through walking and cycling. Families can bond over interactive gundog handling sessions or try falconry with their Harris hawks—an ancient art suitable for ages 5 and up.

The peak tourist season in Scotland typically falls during the summer months (June to August) when the weather is at its best, and festivals like the Edinburgh Festival Fringe are in full swing.
